Ottomans Sultans and Caliphs officially followed the Hanafi Jurisprudence. The Tomb was also very well maintained. In early 15th century the Tombs of Imam Abu Hanifa and Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jillani Al Hassani were demolished by the Safavids after they managed to take control over the Baghdad region but were later restored when Caliph Suleyman regained Baghdad in 1534. For over 600 years the Ottoman state followed the Hanafi Jurisprudence, however the other Orthodox Sunni Schools like Sha’fai, Maliki, and Hanbali were accommodated as well.
The picture belows shows beautiful Imam Abu Hanifa Mosque and Tomb during the Ottoman Era, 1919. May Allah raise the ranks of of Imam e Azam Abu Hanifa Rahimullah.
