The Indian Journalist Association (regd.) celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Independence Day celebrations with great enthusiasm at the National Administrative Office-Media House, Ghazi Rauza, Dr. Aziz Ahmed Road, Gorakhpur, U.P. Flag hoisting Chief Guest Shri Ajit Yadav Bureau Chief, A.N.I. News, Gorakhpur National was welcomed by National Organization Secretary Akhileshwar Dhar Dwivedi by garlanding him, Divisional President Gorakhpur Rafi Ahmed Ansari by putting on a tricolor turban, Ramashankar Gupta by putting on a tricolor sash and City President Gorakhpur Anshul Verma by putting on a tricolor badge. Chief Guest Shri Ajit Yadav hoisted the flag and paid tribute to the known and unknown immortal martyrs of the grateful nation. Then he gave the message of national unity by releasing the tricolor balloon. All the journalists present saluted the tricolour flag after singing the national anthem, national song and slogans like Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Bharat Veeron Ki Jai, Hindustan Zindabad. The purpose of flag hoisting is to strengthen the feeling of patriotism.
Addressing the journalists present at the flag hoisting, the chief guest Mr. Ajit Yadav said that the history of the contribution of journalists in the freedom movement is that the editor of the newspaper himself became the leader of the freedom movement by inspiring people or the leader used the newspaper as a medium to express his views and reach the people and he became a journalist.
Mr. Ajit Yadav further said that the present generation cannot possibly imagine the feelings of the freedom fighters of that time, their patriotism, passion for sacrifice and self-denial, how they published and edited newspapers and magazines with patience and courage and how many financial, physical, mental and family hardships they faced for it. Due to the harsh policies and repression and lack of funds of the British government, many newspapers and magazines kept closing down but more new publications kept coming up. The owners and editors of the newspapers knew that they were facing the guns of the British and for that they could face fines, confiscation of property, imprisonment from a few months to years, Kala Pani and then death and even after that continuous harassment of their families by the government. Journalists were always ready for this. In reality, at that time this work was no less than a bed of thorns and thorns.
Addressing the journalists, National President of Indian Journalist Association Seraj Ahmed Qureshi said that the national flag is a symbol of our honour, but it is also a symbol of the pride, unity, integrity and sovereignty of our country. It reminds us of the sacrifices of the immortal martyrs of the freedom struggle. We have to ensure that on the occasion of 15th August, the tricolour is hoisted in every house and the message of patriotism reaches the people.
On this occasion, National President Seraj Ahmed Qureshi, National Organization Secretary Akhileshwar Dhar Dwivedi, Divisional President Gorakhpur Rafi Ahmed Ansari, Divisional Secretary Dr. Atiq Ahmed, District General Secretary Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Mohd. Azam, Ramashankar Gupta, Haji Mukhtar Ahmed Qureshi, Shravan Kumar Gupta, City President Anshul Verma, Khwaja Ziauddin, Satish Mani Tripathi, Ajmer Khan, Rafiq Ahmed, Zuber Alam, Lalit Kumar Singh, Ahmed Bashar, Dr. Ved Prakash Nishad, Meraj Ahmed, Mohammad Ahmed Khan and other journalists were present.
