27th July is the death anniversary of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, known as ‘Missile Man’ of India. On this day, he had said goodbye to this world. He belonged to a very simple family. Even when he was the President of India, he remained attached to the ground.
Dr. Kalam, who became a means of Tehreek among all sections of the society and especially the youth, had opened the doors of Rashtrapati Bhavan to the common people while being the President. Where children used to be his special guests. No one had thought that in his last time he would say goodbye to this world only while giving lectures to the children.
Kalam was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 1981 and then the Padma Vibhushan in 1990 and the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honor, in 1997. Kalam is the third President of the country to receive the Bharat Ratna before being posted to the top post of India. Before him this position was achieved by Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Zakir Hussain.
