Gorakhpur, 28 July: Everyone knows the saga of Rajgidh Jatayu in the Ramayana period, but due to environmental hazards, the existence of Jatayu’s descendants came under threat. Yogi government has taken a resolution to remove this crisis. The country’s first Red Headed Vulture Conservation and Promotion Center is being built in Bhariwais of Gorakhpur Forest Division for the conservation and promotion of Rajgiddha (Red Headed Vulture). With the formation of this center, the number of vultures will increase, so will the purity of the environment through them. Eco-tourism will also get a boost due to the increase in the influx of tourists to see these creatures included in the extinct species.
The government has released Rs 1.86 crore in two installments for the construction of India’s first Red Headed Vulture Breeding and Promotion Center at Bhariwaisi in Maharajganj district under Gorakhpur Forest Division. The total cost of the 15 year project is Rs 15 crore. Gorakhpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Vikas Yadav says that the construction related works are being completed expeditiously with the amount released in two installments. International Vulture Awareness Day will be observed on the first Saturday of September, 3rd September. According to the DFO, it is the effort of the Forest Department that after completing all the works, the Jatayu Conservation and Promotion Center should be inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on this particular date.
